The pagers causing explosion used by Hezbollah are suspected to have originated from Taiwan’s Gold Apollo Company. The company’s head, Hsu Ching-kuang, stated that this product was manufactured by a foreign company, BAC, and said, “I didn’t make it,” and “It ruined me,” indicating plans to file a multinational lawsuit.
The pagers used by Hezbollah members were implanted with a small amount of explosives, which detonated simultaneously in multiple locations across the country, resulting in at least 9 deaths and approximately 2,800 injuries. According to officials from the U.S. and other countries familiar with the operation, these pagers were ordered by Hezbollah from a Taiwanese company.
Gold Apollo Company is located in Xizhi District, New Taipei City. The Economic Development Bureau of New Taipei City and the Xizhi Police Station visited the company this morning to inquire about the situation. Hsu Ching-kuang told the media that this batch of goods was “100% not manufactured by Taiwan’s Gold Apollo Company,” emphasizing that it was not made in Taiwan but abroad, stating, “I didn’t make it.”
He explained that a foreign agent started representing many of Gold Apollo’s products three years ago, and there had been business exchanges between the two parties. The agent approached him with a group of engineers, expressing interest in producing pagers on their own while hoping to promote the Gold Apollo brand.
Hsu Ching-kuang stated that this explosive product merely carries the Gold Apollo brand name and is entirely different from all his other products. He mentioned that he had already called to complain, saying, “It ruined me.”
When asked if he is considering a multinational lawsuit, Hsu replied, “Of course. Although my company is not very large, it is at least responsible for its products. I’ve been in this business for so many years; I don’t want any stains on this matter.” Regarding whether he feels like a victim, he said, “Of course, I run my business well—why would I get involved in this terrorist attack incident?”
Gold Apollo Company subsequently issued a statement indicating that it has established a long-term private label licensing and regional agency cooperation relationship with BAC Company. According to the cooperation agreement, Gold Apollo has authorized BAC Company to use the Gold Apollo brand trademark for product sales within specific regions, but the product design and manufacturing responsibilities lie solely with BAC Company.
Hsu Ching-kuang then stepped out of the company to read the statement, but when faced with media inquiries about which company BAC is, its country, and whether it was manufactured in Taiwan, he declined to respond.
金阿波羅：爆炸呼叫器由國外公司製造 將跨國提告
黎巴嫩真主黨使用後爆炸的呼叫器（BB Call傳呼機）疑來自台灣金阿波羅公司。公司負責人許清光說，這項產品是外國BAC公司自製，「不是我做的」、「害死我了」，將跨國提告。
黎巴嫩真主黨成員使用的呼叫器遭植入少量炸藥在全國多處同時引爆，造成至少9死約2800人傷。根據了解這場行動的美國等官員透露，這些呼叫器是真主黨從一家台灣公司訂購的。
金阿波羅公司位於新北市汐止區，新北市府經濟發展局與汐止分局上午已前往公司了解。公司負責人許清光接受媒體聯訪表示，這批貨百分之百不是由台灣金阿波羅公司製造，不是在台灣製造，而是在國外製造，「不是我做的」。
他說，1間國外代理商3年前開始代理金阿波羅公司許多產品，雙方有生意往來，對方找了一批工程師，並告知有興趣自產呼叫器，也希望用金阿波羅品牌推廣。
許清光表示，這款爆炸產品只是掛名金阿波羅的品牌，跟他所有產品都不同，他已經打電話去罵人，「害死我了」。
媒體詢問是否考慮跨國提告，許清光說，當然，他的公司雖然不是很大，但至少是負責任產品的公司，「我做這麼多年了，我不希望這件事情裡面來講有一點污點」；針對是否覺得自己是受害者，他說，「當然啊，我好好做生意為什麼會捲入這次恐攻事件呢」。
金阿波羅公司隨後發布聲明表示，金阿波羅公司與BAC公司建立長期貼牌授權及區域代理合作關係，根據合作協議，金阿波羅公司授權BAC公司在特定區域內使用金阿波羅公司品牌商標進行產品銷售，但產品設計與製造均由BAC公司負責。
隨後許清光步出公司宣讀聲明，但面對媒體追問BAC公司是哪家公司、所在國家以及是否在台灣製造等皆不回應。
